7 Saree Draping Mistakes Every Woman Should Avoid (With Easy Fixes)
Share
A beautiful saree does not need complicated draping. A few adjustments can make pleats neater, the pallu more secure and the outfit easier to wear.
1. Wearing the wrong footwear height
Wear your planned footwear before setting the saree length. Changing shoes later can make the hem drag or sit too high.
2. Uneven front pleats
Make pleats of similar width and align their lower edges. Use a temporary clip while arranging them, then secure them comfortably.
3. An unsecured pallu
Spread the pallu evenly over the shoulder. If the fabric is slippery, use a discreet pin that will not damage the weave.
4. Draping too tightly
You should be able to sit, walk and take normal steps. Leave enough ease around the knees and waist.
5. An unsuitable underskirt
Choose an underskirt that supports the saree without uncomfortable pressure or bunching.
6. Pinning delicate fabric carelessly
Place pins through reinforced or less visible areas where possible. Avoid forcing pins through fine net or delicate embroidery.
7. Skipping the movement check
Walk, sit and climb a step before leaving. Check that the hem will not catch under your feet and the pallu stays in place.
Quick tip: Practise once before an important occasion. A comfortable, secure drape looks graceful without constant adjustment.
